Prohibition (Part 1)

                                                                                

A long time ago, in America, Alcohol was very common. And as you of course know, it is not good. So this is the story of Prohibition in America.

The main Alcohol was whiskey

The main Alcohol was whiskey. Which George Washington actually gave to his men in a war. And even doctors gave patients Alcohol. And Alcohol in America was common and was drank everywhere. 

Women hate Alcohol

But however, women hated this, of course, so they went to saloons and told them to stop. And firefighters were required to stop the women from doing so. And women protests were happening. And they also made textbooks for children to teach them not to drink any Alcohol. And it was going well and in small towns, Alcohol saloons were closed and men stopped drinking.

Destruction of Carrie Nation

And in the prohibition, there was an old "innocent" lady who goes by the name of Carrie Nation. And she with her axe or something and went to saloons and destroyed everything. She has smashed a lot of saloons, not only with her axe but with rocks and bottles too :).

Carrie Nation was also arrested at times, but when she got out, she destroyed more saloons, gets arrested, and destroys more saloons, and repeat. This also grabbed the attention of the other women due to her unusual tactics and destroyed more saloons. 

Slowness of Protests

It went good right? Wrong. Because the women's protests slowed down. But why you ask? Because if all the women were out there protesting, then there would be no one to take care of the household. So it slowed down, which was terribly bad. And because it was slowing down, a new movement was taking place, the anti-saloon league, which was run by Whyane Wheeler. And they just wanted to get rid of one thing, A-l-c-o-h-o-l.

Whyane Wheeler fun.

Whyane Wheeler told factory workers to stop drinking alcohol as it was making them lazy. And the same with the factory owners. And the anti-saloon league also made pictures telling how bad alcohol was. And the most effective thing Whyane Wheeler has used was Pressure Politics. Where he pressured people to stop drinking alcohol. It went well. And now everyone was scared of Whyane Wheeler.

Secret drinkers

He had become so scary that people who secretly liked and drank alcohol would pretend to hate in public because of Whyane Wheeler. This was bad because now no one knows who truly supports Whyane Wheeler or not. And it was WW1 where America was found fighting Germany in 1997. And Germany is known for beer, and German people started to come to America with Alcohol. Which was bad news for Whyane Wheeler. So he was of course against them. And it went well. And now it was time to turn it into the law.

Tax everything

But the problem was that Alcohol made 40% of the income!! So making it a law would mean loss of money, which was a problem for Whyane Wheeler. So the anti-saloon league made a new income tax, so now the economy wasn't dependent a little on Alcohol. And now Alcohol successfully became a law. And it was perfect! And Alcohol consumption ground-drilled. (Get it?) Anyway, it had looked like all people supported prohibition. But some people secretly started drinking it. Which was bad.

Good logic

But there was another thing. The production and manufacture
of alcohol were illegal, but consumption wasn't, so if you had any alcohol before the law took place, then you were technically allowed to drink it. So using logic, many people started to start drinking alcohol. And there was also religious wine apparently. And there were agents too for the prohibition period. But there were only 15,000 for the whole entire large country. So it wasn't going to work.
