Prohibition (Part 2)

Creative writing of kid

(The continuation of Part 1, so read Part 1 before this one.)

People started to again drink Alcohol.

In America, more and more people started to again drink Alcohol. Which was terrible, especially for the Anti-Saloon League. And if it was terrible enough, people also started to find ways to sneak some alcohol into their houses. For example, many people made their own alcohol with stills. And you could find a lot of stills if you were in that period of America. Which was, of course, B-A-D.

The government added some toxins to the ingredients in the alcohol.

And sometimes, the stills could even be in the houses of Prohibition supporters! Talk about being scared of Whyane Wheeler! If that wasn't bad enough, the government added some toxins to the ingredients in the alcohol which resulted in many illnesses and D-E-A-T-H.

NO, A LOT OF MONEY

And there was another way of sneaking alcohol too, where there were ships full of alcohol where bootleggers went to the ships in boats to get their alcohol where they would sell everywhere. And some bootleggers became millionaires! So it wasn't really good. Very not good. And even when bootleggers were caught, they would just give some, NO, A LOT OF MONEY to the police to not go to jail. And some cops were getting rich too! Talk about taking bribes right?

George Remus

And there was this bootlegger called "George Remus" Who was a very rich bootlegger. But one time while he was bootlegging, he was caught and his bribes weren't accepted so he went to 2 years in jail where his wife took all his stuff from his mansion, filed for divorce, and go out with a prohibition agent. Months after the divorce, he saw his wife in a car where he called the taxi to run her over. Which the taxi driver did for some reason, and George Remus literally SHOT HER IN THE HEAD. And he handed himself out to the police and he was found... not guilty?

Just becoming worse than ever.

And there was also a drinking establishment which was very popular. And you usually needed a password to get in, and it was a party! And because bootleggers could give bribes, the party could keep going! And it was not good for Whyane Wheeler, he wanted to make the country better but it was just becoming worse than ever!

Al Capone.

And if it was not terrible enough, mobsters and gangsters were slowly showing their faces. Which was not good, it is never good when mobsters or gangsters form! And rival teams started killing each other a lot. And all of that crime was mostly found in the city of Chicago. And one day, the leader of the Italian Southside gang leader was almost assassinated so he went to new york. Leaving his crime empire to his cheap enforcement, whose name was Al Capone.

And Al Capone was not nice, like the other gang leaders, but what made him different was that while others would be sneaky in their kills, Al Capone would actively be in the media while he was killing too. And one time, he was role-playing as Santa in a school too! And he would also give bribes of course in case he would get caught, and those who oppose him would be thrown down the stairs of the city hall. And Hoover wanted to do something about all this.

Women's movement

At this point, it had been almost a decade since the prohibition era, and it wasn't good. And one person who knew it wasn't good, was Pauline Sabin. She had supported prohibition, but now that there was a lot of crime, she was disgusted by all of this, so she created a women's movement, but this time, not FOR prohibition but against it. And she had gained 1.5 million followers in her organization.

Valentine's day massacre.

And on the 14th of February in 1929, something happened that was very unexpected. Men who were working for Al Capone tricked some mobsters into coming into a garage to get some Whiskey, but instead, the Men helped the mobsters to retire from life. This is known as Valentine's day massacre. And it was a true massacre indeed. And Hoover needed to do something because of this. And Hoover still wanted to get Al Capone in prison.

It went successful.

And it was hard, but one day, it went successful. And Al Capone almost got out of it, but fortunately, the jury was replaced with other people so he was found guilty and was sentenced to 11 years in jail. And later, the stock market crashed and it was thrown into the great depression. And 1 out of every 5 people was sure to lose their jobs. It was very bad indeed. And now very few people had time for prohibition.

Mr. Roosevelt won the election.

And it was time for the election. And Hoover was facing against Franklin D. Roosevelt. And Mr. Roosevelt won the election. And he passed the Beer Permit Act, where he would make all Beer legal again to make it easier to control. And now prohibition was finally over! And people celebrated a lot. And people drank beer in bars, not saloons. And Whyane Wheeler had retired from life. :)
