The space omelette. Now, you might be wondering, "Hey, there's no eggs in space-" NO. Did you know that there's an EGG SHAPED PLANET? I mean, probably not, that's probably why you clicked here in the first place but, yeah. Space omeletts anyone?
Bro, how is it shaped like an egg?
Its name is "Wasp-12-b". Now, all of you people who are allergic to wasps, don't worry. So anyway, how the heck did it become egg-shaped? Well, the blame goes to its star. It is absolutely CLOSE to its star, like REALLY close. And we all know to never underestimate the gravitational force of a star, so you wanna how it is egg-shaped? Well, its star just pulls it, closer, closer, yet closer. So from all of that pulling, it gets stretched making it look like an egg. And because it is so close to its star, a year of Wasp-12-b is only 1 day! It is believed to disappear in 3 million years. Oof.
That's a weird name, how did it get it?
So "Wasp-12-b". Not only is it tedious to type, but it has a pretty interesting meaning to its name. The "Wasp" means the space organization or something that found it. It stands for "Wide Angle Search for Planets" The 12 means it is the 12th star to get discovered by the "WASP". Because Wasp-12-b is actually a (yellow) dwarf star. And it looks a lot, lot like Jupiter. Oh, and the b? It means like when it was found. Hear me out, the first planet to get discovered always has a "b".
Hmm, you learn new things every day, isn't it? Well, anyways, omelettes anyone?
